if you could see yourself 

the way I see you

you wouldn't 

let that man boy

come so close

if you could see yourself

reckless hands

if you could see yourself

how I see you

you would know

a safe place for you

and dark alleys

 as a beggar 

after a crumb of someone's love

and all the scales would fall and break and

and stir 

a place in you

for Me

 and you would see Me

for what I truly am

and you would know that I long to hold you

and you would know that

I long to be with you 

you would believe that

                                                                                                                                                       are good

though so often I'm

misunderstood
